The purpose of IDM is to nurture and harness creativity, foster discipline, strengthen technical and performance skills, heighten artistic awareness and encourage a life-long interest in the arts.

Our Repertory Dance Company evolved as a vehicle to further develop the skills of our most dedicated students, preparing them to pursue dance experiences on a professional level. The Repertory Company has performed throughout the metropolitan Detroit area for the past 8 years. They have participated in Detroit's Noel Night, the Wild Lights opening at the Detroit Zoo, the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast at the Charles H. Wright Museum, Black History Month at The Henry Ford, Diversity Day performances for Beaumont Hospital, The Zonta Club of Metro Detroit 30th anniversary celebration, at multiple local church celebrations as well as many events on the Marygrove Campus. They were filmed by Detroit Public Television and appeared on an episode of American Black Journal.

Junior Repertory Company

Our Junior Repertory Company is a new addition to our program. It was developed to begin preparing our more serious but less experienced students for the demands of being a Repertory Company member.  These dancers work to build their performance capacity, as well as their technique. The Junior Company participates in additional performance opportunities including outside events such as Noel Night.
